i read this description of the south in my american culture book.
i am not sure how you would take this…
or how you would take this as a southerner reading what sets your region apart from the others.
according to surveys, these statements are true…but they don’t necessarily present a favorable impression of the south. maybe this is a case of the truth hurting…or being offensive. i think the part that is most offensive is that the “less educated” description is the first mentioned…
i mean, couldn’t they have couched it in the middle or preceded the comment by more of a positive one?
i guess i must accept the description as truth…even if it hurts, or i find it offensive…
and not take it so personally.
